Seasoned investor, and Chairman of Dorset Business Angels (DBA) Don McQueen, leads this 3-hour workshop for existing angel investors who wish to learn more about the lead investor process.

The lead investor plays a pivotal role in facilitating angel investment deals. They anchor rounds by conducting thorough due diligence, negotiating terms, and bridging communications between entrepreneurs and the rest of the investing syndicate. They drive the investment process forward through organisational skills and commitment to regular investor updates. When there is a strong lead investor at the helm, the remainder of the backers can participate confidently, deal negotiation is streamlined for entrepreneurs, and successful funding outcomes become more likely. Developing lead investor skills locally is key to unlocking more early-stage capital for promising ventures in our angel investing community.

The Workshop Objective

This interactive workshop will equip angel investors with the skills and knowledge needed to successfully lead investment rounds.

Key Outcomes:

  • Build a strong pipeline of lead investors to facilitate deals
  • Create consistent investor follow-up processes to improve communication with entrepreneurs
  • Increase close rates on high-potential opportunities through effective due diligence practices
  • Create strong post-event relationships between investors and pitchers through clear expectation-setting

By participating, you will be able to step into leadership roles in deal facilitation, conduct organised due diligence, and bridge communications between all parties throughout the investment process.
