Five game-changing ventures to showcase at the Bournemouth Carlton Hotel on September 29th.
Investors are invited to a Dorset Business Angels (DBA) pitch event featuring five innovative companies at the Bournemouth Carlton Hotel on September 29th from 17.15, with investment opportunities ranging from £500,000 to £2.5 million across transformative sectors including sustainable agriculture, health diagnostics, and environmental solutions.
“We’re excited to present our September pitch event featuring five exceptional businesses that are genuinely changing their industries,” says Don McQueen, Chairman at DBA. “These companies represent the future of sustainable technology and healthcare innovation. Our ‘Meet the Founder’ session continues to prove invaluable, allowing investors to build those crucial personal connections with entrepreneurs before the formal presentations. This relationship-building approach remains fundamental to successful angel investing.”
Featured Companies
- Sustainable Vertical Agriculture: A revolutionary farming technology company delivering 22x traditional yields whilst using 95% less water and zero pesticides. Operating from Milton Keynes, they produce over 2 tonnes weekly of leafy greens and herbs for major retailers including Asda, Waitrose, and Tesco. With 46% of UK food imported and government emissions targets driving demand for local produce, they seek £500,000 on a £2 million pre-money valuation to fund key hires and scale towards 4 sites generating £12.7 million revenue within 5 years.
- Custom-Fit Hearing Protection: Addressing a global crisis where hearing loss is set to impact 700 million people by 2050, this company’s patented smartphone-enabled 3D scanning technology creates custom-moulded earplugs for industrial workers and consumers. With 5 patents granted and sales spanning 68 countries (35% from USA), they seek £500,000 to scale B2B sales and accelerate production whilst reducing waste and long-term hearing damage.
- Non-Invasive Health Diagnostics: Developing state-of-the-art hand-held diagnostic platforms that use light to detect chronic diseases such as glaucoma, cataracts, and myopia at early stages without invasive methods. Backed by £3.3 million of Innovate UK funding with 7 patents and working prototypes successfully tested, they seek £2.5 million to finalise clinical trials and accelerate go-to-market planning for their 2026 product launch.
- Industrial Wastewater Treatment: Tackling industrial wastewater pollution through patented, low-energy evaporation systems that recover 95% of clean water using waste heat. With pilot projects running in the UK and overseas, they have signed Letters of Intent with several multinationals and forecast strong licence-based recurring revenue from 2026. They seek £500,000 to deliver more pilots to major clients and pursue licensing partnerships.
- Smart AI Adult Social Care: Creating an all-in-one care management platform to replace paper-based systems in the UK’s adult social care sector. With the government mandating full digitisation by 2025, they’re capitalising on regulatory and demographic-driven growth. Backed by £650,000 of Innovate UK funding and £250,000 regional equity finance, with £14,000 monthly recurring revenue across 163 users, they seek £750,000 to finalise product build-out and scale their sales team.
Event Format
The event welcomes DBA members, High Net Worth individuals (HNW), and Sophisticated Investors (SI) serious about investment opportunities. The format encourages both individual investment and collaborative syndicate approaches, allowing investors to pool resources and expertise.
Each entrepreneur will deliver a 10-minute pitch followed by a 10-minute Q&A session. Investors staying for dinner will enjoy a 2-course meal with wine—an excellent opportunity to continue discussions and build relationships with fellow investors.
Strong Partnerships
Dorset Business Angels continues to benefit from established partnerships with BCP Council, TC Group, Ellis Jones, and Rathbones (formerly Investec Wealth and Investment), providing comprehensive support for both investors and entrepreneurs. These relationships, alongside event sponsors like The FSE Group, create a robust ecosystem for regional investment. DBA will welcome their sponsors, TC Group, who will present some of their most recent case studies during the event.
