Dorset Business Angels held its latest pitch event at the Bournemouth Carlton Hotel on Monday 11th May, bringing together more than 30 members, guests, sponsors and entrepreneurs for an evening of networking, founder conversations and live pitching.
The event began with DBA’s Meet the Founders networking session, giving attendees the opportunity to connect with entrepreneurs and fellow members ahead of the evening’s presentations. Conversations and discussions continued throughout the event and beyond the close of the formal pitching session.
The line-up featured businesses spanning home energy optimisation, industrial power monitoring, AI-assisted content discovery, fleet management and education technology, showcasing the breadth of sectors currently attracting interest across the DBA network.
The evening generated 22 expressions of interest across the presenting businesses.

It was another excellent evening for the network. The quality of businesses presenting was very high, but equally important was the atmosphere in the room. There was a real sense of openness, collaboration and positivity throughout the evening, with members, guests and sponsors all engaging in valuable conversations across the event.
Generating 22 expressions of interest is a strong outcome, but these evenings are also about building relationships, sharing expertise and creating opportunities for ongoing conversations between founders and the wider DBA community.
A business focused on helping households earn more from their home energy systems opened the evening, presenting a platform designed to improve energy returns and unlock additional income opportunities through automated optimisation of home energy systems. The presentation was well received by members and generated several follow-up conversations after the session.
One of the evening’s standout presentations came from an industrial power monitoring business providing real-time visibility and control of high-voltage energy usage. The company attracted strong attention from members, reflecting continued interest in technologies supporting industrial efficiency and energy optimisation.
The evening also featured presentations from an AI-assisted content discovery platform helping studios and producers identify high-potential creative projects more efficiently, alongside a fleet management platform combining vehicle tracking, cameras and security into a single integrated system. Both businesses generated positive engagement from members, with conversations extending well beyond the formal Q&A session.
Closing the event was a Dorset-based education technology platform helping students improve exam performance through past papers, instant marking and targeted feedback. The business generated considerable interest from members, with attendees responding positively to both the platform and the wider team behind the business.
Monday’s event adds to a strong run for Dorset Business Angels in 2026 and reflects the network’s ongoing commitment to connecting ambitious early-stage businesses with experienced investors and the wider DBA community.
